Days Of Elijah: " From The Cradle To The Cross"

A LETTER FROM MRS. DENISE WHITE, DIRECTOR OF OUR EASTER PASSION PLAY

WRITTEN AFTER THE FIRST PRESENTATION OF "DAYS OF ELIJAY" 2010

Dear Freedom Family:

First of all I would like to say, “TO GOD BE THE GLORY!” What an awesome Easter weekend! The best one I have ever experienced in my life!

12 years ago I sat down with a pen and notebook and began writing down the thoughts I had in my head for an Easter production. The title: “DAYS OF ELIJAH.” As I spent time writing each scene, I envisioned what the stage would look like, what the cast would say and how they would act. As I finished writing, I tore the pages out of the notebook and neatly folded them and tucked them away in the back of my Bible. This was their home for the next 12 years.

Then, Christmas of 2009, Bro. Darryl came to me and asked me did I have anything special we could do for Easter. I immediately thought of the play that was already written and tucked away in the back of my Bible. I said, “as a matter of fact, I do.”

I want to share something unique with you about the title: “DAYS OF ELIJAH.” The first Sunday Danny and I came to Freedom, when we opened the doors to enter the church, the choir was singing, “DAYS OF ELIJAH.” We looked at each other and smiled. This song has always been special to us. And on that very day, Danny and I felt like we were finally home in a place to belong.

We always say, “God’s time is not our time. His ways are not our ways.” God knew the exact time and place this production would happen as soon as my pen hit the paper. What confirmation to know, “Days of Elijah” was written for Freedom Baptist Church 12 years ago! What an AWESOME GOD we get to serve!

I won’t mention names in fear that I would leave somebody out and feelings would be hurt. So, I will just say, “thank you to each and everybody that had a part in this Easter weekend celebration.” What an awesome job! Flawless! It’s truly amazing to see what can happen when God’s people come together in one accord, walking hand in hand in the same direction with their eyes focused on Jesus.

I will mention the most important name of all, “JESUS! NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES! Thank you for choosing me and my Freedom family to see this vision you placed in my head come to life. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to witness our family and friends being saved. Lord, we know none of this would have taken place if it had not been for the sacrifice you made for us. Because of you we have assurance of eternal life in heaven. Thank you! What an honor it is to stand in your presence! Praise Your Holy Name!

Everybody get ready! This is only the beginning. The Lord is at work! My pen has already hit the paper for next year and my mind is spinning 90 to nothing! I am so excited, I can hardly wait!

Again, I want to say, “thank you” for all your love and support. I love each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart! You make my life sweeter!

The journey continues! We must finish well!
Love, your sister in Christ,
Denise White

Day’s of Elijah: From the Cradle to the Cross

Days Of Elijah:  "From The Cradle To The Cross”

Easter morning, while all the people were filing into the Worship Center, there was a feeling of excitement, nervousness and anticipation as the cast and crew awaited the last presentation of this year's Passion Play.  Our director, Mrs. Denise White, was anxious to see all of her planning and visions play out before her eyes.   Four months of preparation, long rehearsals, every Sunday afternoon claimed as "play practice" day.

The first night's presentation did not go off without a glitch, there were things that were not planned or in any way prepared for.  The second night, things went a little smoother, but the third presentation seemed to go as planned, it made all the hard work and dedication of so many, well worth it.  During it all, everyone involved in the drama seemed to keep smiling and put their heart into each scene.  It seemed to draw our people closer together and closer to God.  Each person would tell you, they did it for the Lord, they did it to see people saved.  They did get to see the harvest of their labor.  Sixteen souls were saved and one declared his call to preach.  That is what it is all about.  That made it worth it all!
